NIBA has paid tribute to legendary broker Steve Lardner, who will retire from Aon Risk Solutions on 6 July after 21 years with the company.
Lardner, NIBA President between 2008-2010, is Chief Broking Officer and Director, Broking Operations at Aon. In a long and distinguished career, Lardner held roles in accountancy, the travel industry and consultancy before entering broking. A staunch supporter of NIBA, Lardner has been on the NIBA Board since 2005 and is the current Chair of the NIBA Finance Committee. He has also chaired the NIBA Convention Committee.
Well known as one of the heavyweight figures in the industry, Lardner's contribution to broking was recognised at the 2011 NIBA Convention, when he was awarded the Lex McKeown Trophy - an annual award granted to an individual in recognition of outstanding service to NIBA and the broking industry.
Describing Lardner, current NIBA President David Duffield said: "Steve is widely respected for his strong work ethic, meticulous attention to detail and his ability to simply get things done."
In annoucing Larder's retirement, Aon Pacific Region Chairman Steve Nevett said that Lardner had been "instrumental in establishing Aon as a market leader in this country”. Bob Mann, currently Aon’s Chief Placement Officer, will succeed Lardner as Chief Broking Officer and will take up the role on 1 March.
Look out for an in-depth interview with Lardner in the April/May issue of Insurance & Risk Professional magazine, due out at the end of March.
