5 reasons why attending Sundowners is a must

IRP Online 16 Feb 2012

The first NIBA Sundowners and Sunrisers have already taken place, but with 11 more events scheduled around Australia between early March and late May, here are five reasons why you should get along to one near you.

  1. Relevant: The events focus on the extent to which the world is rapidly changing, particularly the global economic climate. More than ever, it is vital for brokers to be aware of these developments and adapt their business models and relationships with their clients to take this into account.
  2. Informative: Many members are unaware of the level of behind-the-scenes work put in by NIBA on behalf of brokers. The areas in which NIBA is helping shape Government thinking on a range of subjects, including insurance taxes, Fire Service Levies, stamp duty, FOFA reforms, Key Fact Sheets and more, are explained to attendees.
  3. Valuable: Insight into ways in which brokers can adapt to – and take advantage of - swiftly moving technologies offer attendees bright ideas for expanding their business reach. There is also a focus on Professional Indemnity (PI) – a key area of interest for brokers today.
  4. Interactive: Questions and discussion between NIBA members and senior NIBA figures Dallas Booth, CEO, and President David Duffield are welcomed and encouraged at the events. NIBA is actively seeking members' views on their new strategy and direction, which will be presented by David Duffield.
  5. Cost-effective: Attendance for these events is FREE for NIBA members and their staff.

As well as hearing from Dallas Booth and David Duffield, the events also feature presentations by sponsors Pacific Premium Funding and Gallagher Broking Services, and by QBE, on behalf of NIBA's PI scheme.

Already, feedback from delegates attending the opening trio of events in Melbourne, Hobart and Launceston has been most positive. "I was delighted that those attending found the event informative and helpful," said Booth. "Many said that they were not aware of the amount of work that NIBA had been doing on submissions and meetings with government."

There will be a Sundowners event near you, so put the dates in your calendars today so you don’t miss this important opportunity to share your thoughts and ideas about the future direction of your association. The full list of Sundowners and Sunrisers is below.
