The NSW YP Committee debate on whether relationships are more important than money took place at Aon Tower in November, with a packed house treated to an engaging, thought-provoking and often tongue-in-cheek series or arguments from industry experts.
Arguing for the case that relationships are more important than money were captain Gary Gribbin from Insurance House, James Stack from Zurich and Jonathan Poole from Allianz. Taking the opposing viewpoint were captain Shane Doyle from Zurich, Shaun Standfield from QBE and Vero’s Andrew Mair. Glenn Lambert from AIMS was the event Adjudicator.
An audience of some 140 young brokers were in attendance were given much to think about as both sides put up passionate cases for either side of the debate - regardless of their own private views on the matter. And although the industry panel never took themselves too seriously, many serious points about relationship building, and the role that has to play in building a companies' profits, were put forward.
NIBA CEO Dallas Booth was an interested observer on the day. "This was a terrific debate, which was great fun, but also one that will have given our YPs a lot to think about," he said. "Well done to the NSW YP Committee for arranging such a successful event and a big thanks to our panel of experts who gave their time so generously."
