IRP Online 09 Dec 2011

Pacific Premium Funding has once again shown its support for NIBA's commitment to broker education by sponsoring the 2012 Frank Earl Memorial Scholarship.

Named after Frank Earl, the long-standing NIBA Board member and Chair of the National Education Committee, the scholarship provides the opportunity for a broker to complete their Graduate Diploma of Financial Services with NIBA College.

The course is accredited and recognised throughout Australia as a Graduate Diploma program, and can be used as credit towards a degree at university level.

The scholarship is awarded to the broker who best demonstrates their commitment to a broking career. Individuals can nominate themselves or others, but must be employed by or contracted to a NIBA member firm; have already completed their Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking) or have a university degree and have completed a suitable Diploma level short course in insurance broking; and have a minimum of 4 years’ broking experience.

Applicants must submit a scholarship application before 9th March 2012. Full details about eligibility and the application process can be read here.

Frank Earl himself was a strong advocate for broker education and played a pivotal role in overseeing NIBA's move to develop higher education programs in the 1990s. He was also NIBA president in 2003-04. One of the industry’s leading figures in professional indemnity Earl’s career spanned more than 40 years. He died in 2010 at the age of 63 after a long fight against cancer.

Dallas Booth, NIBA CEO, said: "We'd like to express our thanks to Pacific Premium Funding for supporting this scholarship once again. Education of brokers is pivotal to what we stand for at NIBA and we know Frank would be delighted to see that his passion for broker education continues to be reinforced through initiatives like this."
