It was the closest vote in the NIBA General Insurer of the Year Award’s 16-year history but Zurich Australia has been named the winner of the prestigious prize for the second year running.
The insurer faced extremely stiff competition, edging out runner-up QBE – who won the award 11 years on the trot from 2002 to 2012 – and CGU by the barest of margins. Just 14 votes separated the field.
This year, a record 1148 brokers took part in the judging, as part of the Broker Market Survey.
Linda Evans, NIBA’s Professional Development Executive, says: “We congratulate Zurich for winning the award, and great credit must also go to QBE and CGU.
“All three have put in an exceptional effort to meet brokers’ expectations for quality products and services and that was reflected in the very small margins separating the finalists.
“The high standards in evidence are very encouraging not only for brokers, but ultimately for their clients as well.”
