Mike Byrne has been appointed to the role of NSW State Underwriting Manager, B&A Commercial. Byrne began his career in the UK however, prior to joining Allianz, Mike worked in the Middle East, and most recently was Senior Vice President of the Qatar Insurance Company based in Abu Dhabi. Prior to that he was General Manager for AIG in Oman and before that General Manager for an international brokerage based in Dubai UAE.

Michael Carroll has joined Allianz as the Senior Underwriter Liability, B&A Commercial. Prior to joining Allianz, Carroll was the Senior Liability Underwriter at Miramar Underwriting Agency and brings to the role over 29 years’ experience in the insurance industry. Michael’s ambition is to build Allianz’s liability presence and see the company recognised as a major provider of liability in the Australian market.

David Hendry has been appointed to the role of Southern Region Marine Manager, Broker & Agency Commercial. Hendry joins Allianz from Associated Marine and is a specialist in the maritime insurance market, holding post graduate qualifications from the Australian Maritime College. With over seven years’ experience in the marine insurance industry, Hendry is a specialist in cargo, hull and liability insurance.

Todd Sessions has been appointed as Financial Lines Underwriting Manager Western Australia, taking over from Justin Klietz. He has 13 years’ experience in the insurance sector across a range of business lines. Bringing previous experience in corporate relationship management to the role, his focus is on serving the WA broker market.

Mark Thorpe has been appointed to the role of Senior Financial Lines Underwriter, Victoria, bringing 21 years of experience in the insurance sector including seven years in financial lines. During his career he has worked in both underwriting and broker roles.

Adam Jellett has been appointed to the role of Senior Financial Lines Underwriter Victoria. He has four years of financial lines experience. Jellett has recently completed a Masters of Insurance and Risk Management with Deakin University to go with his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Business. In addition to his underwriting role, he is also administrating the popular ACE Insurance broker footy tipping competition for 2011.

Lainee Hooper has been appointed to the position of Sales & Services Manager, B&A Commercial NSW. Hooper began her career at Allianz over nine years ago as a Claims Services Officer. Since then Hooper has received several promotions, withher most recent role being Service Manager for the NSW Claims Unit. Hooper’s staff management experience comes to the fore in this latest appointment, as she is committed to the professional development of her team.

Luke Lalor has been appointed to the role of WA State Distribution Manager, B&A Commercial. Lalor has 16 years’ experience in the industryand joined Allianz in 2007 as a Business Development Manager. He was promoted to the role of Senior Account Manager Blue Eagle Partners before becoming the State Distribution Manager. Prior to joining Allianz, Lalor was a Major Partners Account Manager at QBE.

Eddy Lorenc joined Allianz from Suncorp in 2003. Since then he has managed property underwriting portfolios for both the B&A Commercial and Corporate divisions within the company. In this latest appointment, which is an acknowledgment of Lorenc’s vast experience in property underwriting, he will be responsible for building the property portfolio of Allianz’s Higher Risk Solutions area.

Con Tsobanopoulos has been appointed to the position of National Genesis Manager. Tsobanopoulos has over 24 years’ experience in the Insurance industry, 11 of those with Allianz. Over that time, he has developed from the level of Team Leader, managing 24 team members, to his most recent position as the Manager of Customer Services for Victoria, Tasmania & New Zealand, managing nine direct reports overseeing more than 125 employees.

Carlton has over 40 years of accumulated experience, is a professional Naval Architect and marine surveyor, and has worked in environments from the high arctic to the tropics with a range of pleasure and commercial vessels.

Under the new Life and Investments structure, Mr Matthew Drennan, General Manager, Investments, has been appointed Executive General Manager - Investment Management, reporting to Morgan.
