The 2014 NIBA award winners have returned from their prize trips with a trove of memorable experiences and professional advantages to boot.
John Mutton, 2014 NIBA Broker of the Year winner and Managing Principal of InterRisk, travelled to New Orleans in the US to attend the Zurich Classic PGA Tour and professional business sessions.
As part of the Zurich-sponsored award, Mutton enjoyed networking with global insurance industry professionals and experienced a host of special speakers, including former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Zurich North America CEO Mike Foley, and baseball royalty and Oakland A’s team manager Billy Beane.
“I was humbled to be awarded the NIBA Broker of the Year Award for 2014,” Mutton says. “The nomination and selection process was a career highlight.”
“I can also say the trip was a professional and personal highlight that I will never forget,” Mutton says.
Adele May, Vero’s 2014 Warren Tickle Memorial Award winner and Account Executive at Willis, was flown to London UK to rub shoulders with leading insurance C-Suites and gain valuable professional insights.
May was given the opportunity to network with Russell Higginbotham, CEO of Swiss Re UK and Ireland, and Cameron Green, CEO of Willis Reinsurance Australia, and spent time working alongside the Willis Insolvency team in Birmingham.
May was treated to a tour of Lloyd’s and Willis London offices, meeting international peers and learning from their processes.
Reflecting on the experience and all that it offered, May says: “Having champagne on top of the Gherkin with the Russell – that was definitely a once in a lifetime experience.”
“It’s good to have those relationships because you never know when you are going to need them.”
This year’s award winners will be announced at the upcoming NIBA15 Convention, hosted in Melbourne from 6-8 September.
Registration for NIBA15 is now open.
