Four brokers are being helped on their way up the professional ladder after winning this year’s annual NIBA College scholarships.
Two brokers were selected to win the prestigious Frank Earl Memorial Scholarship, with each earning an Advanced Diploma through NIBA College, as well as full registration for this September’s NIBA Convention – courtesy of sponsor Macquarie Pacific Funding.
The scholarship winners were Alexandra Fox-Slater of Aon in Perth (the 2013 NIBA College Student of the Year Award winner) and Daniel Holmes of Fitzpatrick and Company Insurance Brokers in Victoria.
Meanwhile, two more brokers won Professional Excellence Scholarships to complete Block 2 of their Diploma of Insurance Broking studies through NIBA College, courtesy of sponsor CGU.
The winners were Nicholas Bedggood of Intertrade Insurance Solutions, and Matthew Beslich of Reliance Partners – both based in NSW.
Bedggood, who was a NIBA College Student of Excellence in 2014 after completing Tier 1 of his Diploma of Insurance Broking with NIBA College, says he can’t wait to get started on Block 2.
“I found the Tier 1 workshop to be very effective in getting me up to speed quickly, and to be able to give advice as an insurance broker. It also highlighted that I needed to continue my learning, hence my application for the Excellence Scholarship.
“I’m thrilled to receive this opportunity from NIBA and CGU and look forward to commencing my next phase of learning.”
Emilie Webster, NIBA’s Technical and Training Manager, said: “The standard of applications was very high this year, and we had a record number, so we congratulate the winners who really put together very strong entries.
“We wish them all well with their studies and hope this helps them achieve their professional ambitions. And our thanks go to the scholarship sponsors Macquarie Pacific Funding and CGU for helping provide these opportunities.”
