The Council of Queensland Insurance Brokers (CQIB) has announced its annual award winners at its Queensland Day celebration in Brisbane.
Nearly 400 CQIB members and business partners supported the event from all over the state, and six awards were presented: two for individuals and four for companies.
The big broker winner on the night was Gerald Lodewick from Insurance Aid General Broking, who was named the winner of the Peter McCarthy Young Professional of the Year Award.
The award goes to a YP who has given their brokerage, clients and insurance industry outstanding commitment and service over the past 12 months. Lodewick receives $1000, a full delegate registration to the 2016 CQIB Convention and a perpetual trophy.
Meanwhile, Jalani McCarthy from QBE Insurance won the The Mick Lambert Barker Award, presented to the CQIB Business Partner’s staff member for “Service above and beyond”. McCarthy picked up $500 from CQIB in recognition of outstanding service to its members.
It was a good night for QBE, who won the Queensland All-rounder of the Year Award ahead of CGU. The All-rounder Award is based on the performance of insurers over the past 12 months with performance levels of security, range of products, service levels, claims administration, accounts, communication, price and availability of senior management. QBE also picked up the Claims Service Award.
CGU didn’t go away empty handed, though, as they claimed the Domestic Insurer Award. UAA, meanwhile, were awarded the prize for top underwriting agency.
There was also a first for the event, with CQIB’s inaugural Honorary Membership being granted to lawyer David Muir of HWL Ebsworth for 15 years of dedication to CQIB and its members.
