Did you miss out in our last intake for mentors and mentees?
Pairing industry professionals in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, the NIBA mentoring program is seeking both mentors and mentees to participate in the next series starting in mid-August.
Applications are open now so this is your chance to take part.
For mentees, mentoring provides access to supportive and motivating industry role models to help you develop focused goals and direction.
NSW mentee Maddie Zali from Brooklyn Underwriting took part in last year’s program and says it was invaluable experience, “I ended up learning a lot more than I bargained for; and a lot about myself during the process, which was quite unexpected but definitely a great outcome.”
For mentors, it’s a great way to give something meaningful back to the industry and learn more about yourself.
Mentor David Mckinnis based in Melbourne says of his experience in last year’s program: “The most important takeaway for me – in every mentoring activity – is that I don’t need to have all the answers; just to ask the right questions.
“One thing I would add is that mentoring is not just for the young insurance professional, as when we get to the apex of the company tree- there are less and less people we can share ideas or problems with.”
The 12-week program features three group workshops, including a final mentee presentation. Mentors and mentees need to commit to the process and meet regularly throughout the 12 weeks to benefit.
The program is free to participate in thanks to our generous sponsors, and is worth 4 CPD points.
