Allianz, CGU and QBE have been revealed as the contenders for the annual General Insurer of the Year Award, with the winner set to be announced at the 2016 NIBA Convention in Melbourne on Monday 12 September.
Nearly 1,000 NIBA member brokers rated insurers’ products and services in a range of categories as part of the annual Broker Market Survey.
NIBA CEO Dallas Booth says: “Once again the vote was extremely close and all our finalists are to be commended for the efforts they put into servicing brokers as effectively and efficiently as possible.”
Allianz managing director Niran Peiris says: “Allianz is proud to be shortlisted once again for the NIBA General Insurer of the Year award. In a challenging market environment, innovation and superior claims management are important differentiators, so I am especially pleased that the efforts of the team at Allianz have been recognised … This nomination is in recognition of Allianz’s commitment to ongoing improvement and innovation – both at an organisation and industry level.”
Peiris added that Allianz was dedicated to listening to its customers and is focused on flexible product offerings and value for broker partners, among others.
Jason Clarke, QBE executive general manager – intermediary distribution told IRP it was a privilege to be recognised as a finalist among such a strong field. “The intermediary market is an incredibly important and significant part of our business and we are honoured that our valued business partners have recognised the efforts we have made over the past few years improve our service and relationships with them,” he says. “Being named a finalist is always an achievement we take pride in and we thank NIBA members for this recognition. We look forward to seeing everyone at the convention next month.”
A CGU spokesperson told IRP: “We’re absolutely delighted to be nominated as a finalist in the 2016 General Insurer of the Year awards by NIBA brokers. We place great value and importance on the feedback we receive from our NIBA brokers and to be nominated once again clearly demonstrates our ongoing commitment and continued focus to serve our broker partners.”
CGU took home the General Insurer of the Year award last year.
Allianz has not previously won the award since its inception in 1998, though QBE has claimed it for a remarkable 11 consecutive years between 2002-2012.
Zurich took home the 2013 and 2014 titles.
