Two NIBA College students have marked themselves out as brokers to watch, winning the College’s awards for outstanding academic achievement.
At a special ceremony at the NIBA Convention this morning, Jeremy Thornton of Complete Risk Solutions, Insurance Advisernet, was named the NIBA College Student of the Year, taking out the hard-fought title over Jessica Cunningham (Robert K Green & Associates, Vic) and Jessica Knight (Knightcorp, WA).
Thornton claimed a $1000 prize and a place on award sponsor QBE’s acclaimed eQuip program.
Meanwhile, Jade Bolam of North Queensland Insurance Brokers, Ayr, was presented with her award as NIBA College Trainee of the Year, also sponsored by QBE.
Meanwhile, the Lex McKeown Trophy for lifetime achievement was handed to former NIBA President David Duffield.
Duffield has been in the broking industry for 40 years, and joined the NIBA Board in 2005. Duffield went on to serve as NIBA President from 2010-2012, during which time he played a central role in the renewal of the Insurance Brokers Code of Practice, among other achievements.
NIBA CEO Dallas Booth congratulates all the NIBA College award winners and finalists: “The calibre of candidates this year was once again outstanding. My congratulations go out to the winners, and to all the finalists, for being excellent examples of the professionalism and dedication that our industry has to offer.”
