A Sydney-based broker has beaten out stiff competition to be named Australia’s representative in Assurex Global, the world’s largest private commercial insurance brokerage group.
GSA was chosen from among eight contenders for the sought-after opportunity, which was left open after OAMPS was purchased by Arthur J Gallagher last year.
GSA Director Scott Curley says the partnership will be a boon for GSA clients with overseas operations or plans to expand offshore.
“Through Assurex, GSA will be able to engage a local Assurex partner firm in each respective country that our clients operate,” he says.
“This ensures we have locally issued paper that is compliant with the local laws and regulations. It also provides our clients with an on-the-ground contact that is aligned to GSA’s culture.
“Our domestic clients will benefit greatly from GSA’s inclusion to Assurex. Through the 105 partner firms, GSA will have access to a multitude of forums and experts on all classes of insurance and risk management.”
Curley says the firm was delighted to get through the rigorous selection process.
“With GSA’s geographical spread of clients through Australia and New Zealand, we were able to demonstrate to the Assurex board, our ability to grow and service our clients business in all states and territories,” he says.
Founded in 1954, Assurex Global has more than 600 partner offices across the globe, writing $US29 billion in premium each year.
