A 41-year-old Victorian broker will tackle seven marathons in just seven days in a bid to raise money for children’s charity Bravehearts.
Australian Reliance broker Matthew Kohler, from Balwyn North near Melbourne, is a seasoned ironman competitor who has previously tackled the New York Marathon.
However, his upcoming challenge will be like nothing he has ever faced before.
The Bravehearts 777 challenge will see competitors run seven consecutive marathons between June 27 and July 3 in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Hobart, Canberra, Kingscliff and Gold Coast.
Having witnessed the Melbourne leg of Bravehearts 777 last year, Kohler knew it was the sort of challenge he could really get behind.
“With so many charities in our community, I needed to find the one I made an instant connection with, and this is it,” he says.
“I know the pain and suffering of seven marathons will be over for in a week. For some of the most vulnerable people in our society, their suffering can last a lifetime. That’s why events like this, and organisations like Bravehearts, are so important.”
Bravehearts aims to educate, empower and protect Australian children from sexual assault with the aim of making Australia the safest place in the world to raise a child by 2020.
Matthew aims to raise $10,000 through Bravehearts 777. If you’re keen to help him achieve his target, visit his fundraising page here.
