North Melbourne broker Cleveland Chu is $5,000 richer after his passport was drawn from the entry box at the Underwriting Agencies Council-Lloyd’s Village at the NIBA Convention in Sydney yesterday.
Cleveland completed his passport entry form by visiting all 39 UAC member exhibitors in the village. Cleveland, an authorised representative for FP Insurance Brokers, was “flabbergasted” by his win of $5,000 of gold bullion, saying he had been a broker for 26 years and had “never won anything”.
After winning the bullion, he had a one in 25 chance to win a return trip to San Francisco, valued at more than $10,000. He pored carefully over the 25 sealed envelopes before selecting the Chinese lucky number – eight. But it was not to be – the envelope that contained the travel prize was number nine. Cleveland was certainly happy to keep the gold, though.
UAC General Manager William Legge thanked Beazley Underwriting, which had insured the San Francisco prize, and Cunningham Lindsey, which was the independent auditor and oversaw the chance draw for the travel prize.
UAC was a dominant exhibitor at the NIBA Convention. Its 2017 theme was ‘Insurance bridging communities’, which featured a huge replica bridge.
