On Friday 25 October, Austbrokers ABS hosted their 8th Annual Charity Ball at Doltone House Hyde Park. The event was attended by 250 clients, staff, and industry partners who collectively raised $40,000 for the evening’s charity beneficiary, Children’s Cancer Institute (CCI).
General Manager, Rebecca Wilson said, “The room was emotionally moved by our keynote speaker Luke Rollinson, who shared with us his story of being a childhood cancer survivor, being diagnosed at the age of 18 months with various Retinoblastoma tumours in both of his eyes.
“Luke’s history with cancer was hereditary, and the gene was passed on to his two children, Eli and Harper. Both children are currently in remission, thanks to the work that Children’s Cancer Institute are doing.”
Attendees at the ball dug deep and generously donated to the cause. Out of the funds raised at the Ball, $20,000 will pay for the tests required for one child to benefit from Children Cancer Institute’s Zero Childhood Cancer Personalised Medicine Program, therefore two children will benefit from the $40,000 raised on Friday night.
Austbrokers ABS works closely with both CCI and the Reach Foundation, with both charities having a focus on the welfare and support of young people. The broking group has indicated that next year Reach will be the beneficiary of the Annual Charity Ball.
