Two more national finalists for NIBA’s Broker and Young Broker of the Year Awards are now known, following the announcement of the QLD award winners.
Held at the Pullman Brisbane King George Square, the gala lunch took place after the 2016 NIBA UAC QLD Underwriting Expo, attended by dozens of underwriting agencies.
2016 QLD NIBA Award Winners
At the NIBA Gala Lunch in Brisbane on Wednesday 20 July, Dale Hansen of Austbrokers Coast to Coast Pty Ltd claimed the QLD regional Broker of the Year Award. The two award runner-ups were Susan Lindores of Aon Risk Services and Christine Palmer from Arthur J. Gallagher.
Dale Hansen began his career with Warren Saunders Insurance Brokers in 1996, where he was an Assistant Account Executive. He’s now the Managing Director and CEO of Austbrokers Coast to Coast, where he has been since 2011.
As the region’s Broker of the Year, Hansen will go on to compete for the national Stephen Ball Memorial Award. The overall winner will claim a prize valued in the region of $20,000, courtesy of QBE. The QBE-sponsored Broker of the Year Award goes to an individual who is deemed an inspirational role model for the broking community, and who has demonstrated excellence in broking practice and client advocacy.
Strata Insurance Solution’s Tyrone Shandiman claimed the QLD Young Professional Broker of the Year title. The runners-up for the award were Christina Neylon of Ausure Coast & Country and Dwayne Watkins of Aon.
Tyrone will go on to represent QLD in the Vero-sponsored Warren Tickle Memorial Award, which will be announced at the 2016 NIBA Convention in September, with a tailored professional development experience valued in the region of $10,000 – which can include overseas travel – awaiting the champion.
One more to go!
The final round of regional awards will be announced during the NIBA SA Gala Lunch at the Adelaide Convention Centre this Friday 22 July.
