It’s a busy time of the year for many. And more so for Jill Stewart, Bettina Pidcock, Darrin Wright and Ashley McPhee who have all been appointed to new roles.
Willis Towers Watson’s new head of FINEX Australasia
Willis Towers Watson has appointed Jill Stewart as its Head of FINEX for Australasia.
After a long career with QBE, Stewart will be joining Willis Towers Watson in September.
Stewart was most recently the National Manager, Professional & Financial Lines at QBE in Sydney, and previously she worked for QBE’s European operations in a range of senior positions including Head of European Financial and Specialty Markets. Stewart commenced her career as an underwriter, working with several insurers and brokers in both the Australian and London markets.
Commenting on the appointment, Andrew Boal, Willis Towers Watson’s Head of Australasia said: “Jill has a wealth of experience and an exceptional reputation in the Australasian professional lines and financial lines arena. Her knowledge of local and international markets, together with her diverse experience, will help bring fresh perspectives to Willis Towers Watson.”

Stewart will be based in Sydney, with reporting lines to both Boal and Wall.

QBE creates new Chief Customer Officer role
QBE has created a new Chief Customer Officer role and appointed Betiina Pidcock to the role.
Pidcock was Executive General Manager, Marketing and will retain responsibility in the area while in her new role.
Pat Regan, QBE CEO says the new CCO role helps the company “stay true” to improving its focus on delivering exceptional customer experience.
And Pidcock was the right choice: “Bettina has done a fantastic job in bringing a persistent focus on our customers and using data to drive decisions and better outcomes.”
Pidcock says: “The customer needs to be at the centre of everything we do. Working closely with our partners and focusing on our customers will help us to design and deliver better solutions to meet their insurance needs.”
Gallagher Basset’s newly established role filled
Gallagher Bassett (GB) has appointed Darrin Wright to the newly established position of Executive Director Personal Injury, effective 1 July 2017.
Based in Adelaide, Wright will drive product development, integrity and consistency across GB Australia’s personal injury claims management services, including workers’ compensation, life and disability insurance and self-insurance, as well as GB’s consultancy services.
John McNamara, Managing Director, GB Australia, said this new role was established to ensure that GB’s personal injury products and services continue to evolve to meet its clients’ ever-changing claims needs.
“Darrin brings a wealth of experience from within the personal injury industry, which is complemented by significant risk management and general management experience,” McNamara said.
Before joining GB, Mr Wright was a consultant to icare NSW assisting in the design and delivery of its new operating and service delivery models. Previously, he was the Director of Agent Performance at RTWSA, where he worked closely with scheme agents in the substantial reform that South Australia has undergone.
Wright is excited to be joining GB at a time when the personal injury industry is evolving. “The personal injury landscape is changing rapidly, with a great customer experience being a dominant feature as we provide claims management services in a fair, equitable and transparent manner.”

This promotion is in recognition of his skill and talent in the measurement of complex financial losses for both the insurance and legal industries, as well as his strong leadership skills.
McPhee has specialised exclusively in forensic accounting for over 10 years, and has extensive experience in the measurement of economic damages in insurance losses. He has focused particularly on cases involving business interruption, fraud and fidelity, and liability across a range of industries. He has also provided litigation support for legal cases of varying sizes and complexity and has successfully managed high profile assignments for major corporations in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa and Asia.
McPhee joined RGL in 2012. He is a chartered accountant, certified fraud examiner, and a fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.
Following McPhee’s promotion, there are two Partners based in RGL’s Sydney office and 34 worldwide.
