Fresh faces and old hands wanted

The ever-popular NIBA mentoring program returns next month and it is not too late to sign up to the career-changing initiative.

The 12-week program unites young insurance professionals with their experienced peers to offer them insight and guidance, setting them up to overcome obstacles in their careers.

There are still spaces for both mentors and mentees, with mentors from insurance companies in particular demand.

Expressions of interest for New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia close on 30 January, while Western Australian insurance professionals need to register their interest by 13 February.

The goals of the program are set depending on the individual needs of the mentee, and the onus is on the pairings to meet or converse regularly (ideally at least an hour per week) to stay on top of goals. In addition, there are three workshops to attend, including a final presentation where mentees outline what they have learned throughout the process. The full program timeline will be sent out to successful applicants.

Thanks to the support of our sponsors the program is free to take part in, and participants earn four CPD points. Where possible, brokers are paired with insurers and underwriters to ensure there is no conflict of interest.

It’s even possible to participate in the program if you’re based in regional areas via Skype or phone conversations, as long as the workshops are attended.
