Government changes to affect all NIBA College students

New Federal Government regulations mean all current and future students of NIBA College and other vocational training have to register for a Unique Student Identifier (USI) reference number.

A USI is a reference number made up of numbers and letters that will give students access to their USI account, without which no credentials can be issued.

The USI account will be linked to the National Vocational Education and Training (VET) Data Collection, allowing an individual to see all of their training results from all providers, including all completed training units and qualifications.

This initiative will make it easier for students to find and collate their VET achievements into a single authenticated transcript and ensure that students’ VET records are not lost.

For new enrolments, students are required to create a USI by visiting and following the prompts. This is then listed on the enrolment form and verified by NIBA College staff. The new enrolment form is accessed automatically at point of enrolment on the NIBA website, or by emailing

Students who complete their course from 1 January 2015, but who commenced prior to the new requirements, will also need to create a USI. This will be collected on completion through the certificate request form.

If you have any queries about your USI, please contact NIBA College on (02) 9459 4307.
