Insurance broking CEO leading fundraising efforts

Marsh CEO Scott Leney has beat his target of raising $35,000 for the homeless as part of the Vinnies CEO Sleepout.

Indeed, we’re pleased to report that Leney is the number 2 fundraiser for CEOs in Sydney, with over $44,000 going to the worthy cause, at the time of this article. He’s also cracked the top 10 (at number nine) for CEOs nationally!

This is Leney’s fourth year participating in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout to raise money and awareness for homelessness.

“There are over 105,000 people who are homeless in any given night in Australia. 44 per cent are women 13 per cent are kids under the age of 12. The numbers are getting larger – it’s a real problem in society and something that Vinnies … through the Sleepout, do such a good job to raise awareness of and provide support to the homeless,” said Leney.

Further representing the insurance industry, we noticed Team QBE ANZO raised an impressive $36,078.

The event began as a local community venture in Sydney’s Parramatta in 2006, the brainchild of a local business leader, Bernard Fehon, Managing Director of Tactical Solutions. This year’s event, held 22 June for most locations, has helped to raise over $5.2 million in donations.

Donations from the Vinnies CEO Sleepout directly assist people experiencing homelessness by funding new projects, assisting with the provision of existing homeless services and allowing program expansions. These initiatives reflect Vinnies’ determination to provide real alternatives and help people break the cycle of homelessness.
