Willis Towers Watson makes two senior broking appointments
Willis Towers Watson has announced the appointment of Trent Williams to the role of Head of Broking Australasia and Juan Florez as Head of Carrier Management, Asia Pacific, effective immediately.
Simon Weaver, Head of Corporate Risk and Broking for Asia Pacific stated: “Trent has a proven ability to foster relationships with carriers and clients alike, and he will create exceptional added value for our clients. He will deliver our broking strategy across all lines of business, create consistency around our broking activities and act as the focal point for our carrier interaction in Australasia.”
Commenting on his new position, Willliams said: “I am excited to have this opportunity to lead the Broking business in Australasia. We have a team of highly talented Broking colleagues, and I look forward to working closely with them as we provide services to clients across the breadth of our business.”

BMS confirms senior broking hire
BMS Group Limited has announced that Danny Gluszkiewicz is joining the growing BMS Australia team as a director of the Australian operations, effective August 2018. Based in Brisbane, he will form an integral part of BMS Australia’s national team and report to Andrew Godden, BMS Australia CEO.

There is huge demand in Australia for BMS’s signature offering as an independent, flexible and client-centric broker, and Danny will play a key role in our ongoing expansion. New Director Appointed to the Hollard Board
Hollard has announced that Noeline Woof has joined its Board as a non-executive director with effect from 1 July 2018.
Woof brings a wealth of experience to the Board across a range of areas including insurance, actuarial services, risk management, policy and operational and organisation transformation.
“Our industry is currently under a great deal of scrutiny and is facing a war for talent. We are pleased to welcome someone of Noeline’s calibre and 20+ years of senior leadership capability to the Hollard Board. IAG’s top lawyer leaves
IAG has confirmed the departure of its group general counsel and company secretary Chris Bertuch.
Bertuch, who has been on extended leave since early June and will officially leave the insurance giant on September 30.
“Chris has been a key member of my leadership team and has led a number of landmark transactions which have transformed IAG, cementing our position as Australia and New Zealand’s leading general insurer,” said CEO and managing director Peter Harmer.
Bertuch also played an integral part in establishing IAG’s first Reconciliation Action Plan, founded IAG’s Ethics Committee, and has overseen the company’s preparation for the Royal Commission.
XL Catlin appoints Jonathan Moss as Portfolio Solutions Manager, Australia
XL Catlin’s insurance operations announced the appointment of Jonathan Moss as Portfolio Solutions Manager for Australia, effective 2nd July, 2018.
In this role, Moss will be responsible for delivering enhanced portfolio solutions in the region, ensuring business alignment with brokers, and managing relationships and will be based in Sydney.
Commenting on Moss’ appointment, Jonathan Mead, Head of Client & Broker Management, Asia Pacific said, “Jon’s appointment highlights the strategic importance of portfolio solutions to the intermediated market in Australia, and demonstrates our continued investment in serving this important area as it continues to develop.”

Zurich announces Tim Plant as new CEO, General Insurance
Zurich Australian Insurance Limited (Zurich) has announced the appointment of Tim Plant as CEO, General Insurance, Australia & New Zealand.
Plant has a strong track record in driving transformation, innovation, and customer service initiatives and brings more than 25 years’ experience across insurance, reinsurance and financial services.
He joins Zurich from icare, where he was the Group Executive of Insurance for NSW, the largest public sector self insurer in Australia. Jack Howell, Zurich Asia Pacific CEO, said: “Tim brings significant industry experience and a strong focus on innovation and customer centricity. I’m confident that his enthusiasm and leadership will add to the positive momentum we are seeing across our Australian General Insurance business, and I look forward to working with him to bring the best of Zurich to our customers and partners.”

Chris Waterman, CEO ad interim, will continue to oversee Zurich’s Australian General Insurance business until Mr Plant’s commencement, after which he will return his focus to his regional responsibilities as Head of Commercial Insurance, based in Singapore. Plant will start with Zurich on 7 August 2018, subject to regulatory approvals.
