There has been plenty of movement in the upper echelons of the Australian insurance industry in the last week.

XL Catlin appoints Rob McAdams as Chief Underwriting Officer for Global Marine

XL Catlin has announced the promotion of Rob McAdams to the position of Chief Underwriting Officer for Global Marine with immediate effect. McAdams previously held the role of UK/ Ireland Marine Leader.

Commenting, Doug Howat, Chief Executive for Global Lines at XL Catlin said: “We are delighted that Rob has stepped into this position. Rob has been with XL Catlin since 2000 and during this time has honed his expertise spanning Hull, Ports & Terminals, and Global Marine & Upstream Energy Liabilities.  He has shown great leadership skills in his former roles and has exactly the right experience and expertise to steer strategy for our Marine team at a global level.”

McAdams has 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry and prior to joining legacy XL he held positions at Reliance National in New York. He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, and a Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter.

QBE names CommBank’s Michael Ford as CFO

QBE has announced Michael Ford, as its finance chief.

Ford who is currently deputy chief financial officer for Commonwealth Bank, will join the insurer in September, succeeding Pat Regan who is set to step down from QBE’s board and take on the role of chief executive of the company’s Australian and New Zealand operations.

Before joining Commonwealth Bank in 2005, Mr. Ford held senior roles at National Australia Bank Ltd.’s wealth management division and property company Lendlease Group.

Claim Central Consolidated appoints General Manager Adjusting Services

Claim Central Consolidated has announced the appointment of Wade Eilersen, General Manager of Adjusting Services in the Northern Territory.

Brian Siemsen, Chief Executive Officer, Claim Central Consolidated, said Eilerson’s extensive experience and skills in loss adjusting will strengthen the team’s offering in the region.

“We’re delighted to have someone of Wade’s experience and calibre join Claim Central Consolidated. This appointment reflects our commitment to expanding our innovative digital claims management solutions to the Northern Territory.

“Wade has extensive experience in the insurance industry and in particular, loss adjusting. As a Territorian, he has a solid understanding of the weather conditions and needs of the locals. Wade will bring a new dimension to the team and will further cement their ability to offer best-in-class loss adjusting services to insurers’ in the region,” he said.

Wade has more than 40 years’ experience working in the insurance industry in the Northern Territory in senior executive positions in loss adjusting; claims management; underwriting and risk surveying reinsurance. Most recently, he was an Executive Loss Adjuster for Cunningham Lindsay and will commence his new role in June 2017.
