Australia’s largest global insurer and an A-League football team celebrated a milestone 20 years of partnership by thrashing the competition’s top dog.
Perth Glory wore a specially designed QBE jersey to mark their 20-year partnership with the insurer when they thumped the Brisbane Roar 6-3 at nib Stadium last Saturday.
The thrashing knocked Brisbane off the top of the ladder, while Perth moved to within striking distance of a finals spot themselves.
Perth Glory FC CEO Peter Filopoulos says the commitment shown by QBE Insurance Australia to the club and code over the years was second to none.
“We are proud to have such an esteemed partner as our front of shirt sponsor,” Filopoulos says.
“QBE’s 20-year sponsorship of Perth Glory is admired throughout the Australian football community and has created a strong brand connection and association between the two organisations.
“The partnership has continually evolved along the journey from our early days in the National Soccer League through to our entry in the new Hyundai A-League and we look forward to our continued association.”
QBE Australia CEO Tim Plant says the company was immensely proud of the 20 year partnership.
“We value our sponsorship as a long term commitment, which means being there for the triumphs and the challenges,” Plant says.
“We are honoured to support Perth’s sporting and wider community through our two decade sponsorship of the team.”
Celebrations to mark the 20th anniversary included a radio competition on Mix 94.5 to give away 100 tickets, more than $2500 worth of merchandise giveaways, and a half-time goal shootout for fans to win prizes.
