Key organisations commit to Rediplan

The Australian Business Roundtable (ABR) for Disaster Resilience and Safer Communities member organisations, which includes IAG, have committed to the Australian Red Cross’s Rediplan.

During this Emergency Preparedness Week (19 to 26 September), Rediplan is being promoted to help communities prepare for an emergency.

Rediplan is a free disaster preparedness guide, helping users learn about risks, make an emergency survival kit, and create an emergency plan.

Early this year, the ABR unveiled two reports prepared by Deloitte Access Economics that showed the total annual cost of natural disasters in Australia is expected to increase from $9 billion to $33 billion by 2050. This includes the economic cost of the social impacts of natural disasters.

The ABR was formed in 2012 with a goal to work with governments to change public policy and increase investment in building safer, more resilient communities, and improve people and businesses’ capacity to withstand future natural disasters.

Members include representatives from IAG, Australian Red Cross, Investa Office, Munich Holdings, Optus, and Westpac.
