Lloyd’s names new Australian rep

The CEO of a leading Australian brokerage has been appointed to head the Australian presence of Lloyd’s.

On Tuesday, the specialist insurance market announced Gow-Gates Insurance Brokers CEO Christopher Mackinnon as its new General Representative in Australia.

The role was left vacant after Adrian Humphreys moved to Steadfast as the group’s new Business Development General Manager.

Mackinnon will start the role in early February and brings with him more than 21 years of experience in the insurance industry, including stints in both Sydney and London.

“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to lead Lloyd’s presence in Australia,” he says.

“I started my career as a Lloyd’s broker in the London Market, and  look forward to being part of Lloyd’s again, and contributing to the growth and development of the business in Australia.”

In his new role, Mackinnon will be responsible for the Lloyd’s presence in Australia, which has almost doubled in the past five years.

Lloyd’s Head of Asia Pacific Kent Chaplin says he is delighted Mackinnon is joining the team.
“With his extensive experience in the Australia insurance market, and his strong knowledge of Lloyd’s, Chris is the ideal person to lead Lloyd’s in Australia and build on our success as a specialist (re)insurer in the region.”
