Meet some of this year’s NIBA Convention speakers

Don’t miss out on the insurance broking event of the year! Join us at Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart, from 4-5 September for what is shaping up to be the ultimate NIBA Convention.

Rob Carlton – Master of ceremonies

One of Australia’s most outstanding actors, Rob Carlton has starred in a long list of Australian television series and as a keynote speaker, his down-to-earth delivery, astute character observations and self-deprecating humour are a world away from a corporate presentation.

Leigh Carmichael – Opening plenary

Leigh Carmichael is the creative director of DarkLab, a creative project subsidiary of the famously irreverent Mona (Museum of Old and New Art) in Hobart, Tasmania. A living example of what’s become known as ‘the Mona Effect’, Leigh Carmichael speaks to audiences about removing the barriers to creativity and the importance of cultural branding. He also provides a unique insight into the world of artistic performance, describing the evolution of the Mona brand along with the Mofo and Dark Mofo festivals.

Michael’s 30-year career has seen him apply his expertise to a wide array of sectors, including international emergency medical and travel assistance, healthcare, energy, financial services, and consumer goods.

Eoghan Trehy – Digital disruption

Eoghan Trehy is one of Australia’s leading authorities on insurtech, regularly writing and speaking on the power of technology to create simpler, easier and more efficient client experiences – while enabling growth in the insurance broking sector.

Eoghan speaks the language of insurance and broking, and can cut through the rhetoric to spark ideas and find new answers to emerging challenges.

Daniel Weis – Cyber security

Daniel Weis is the Lead Penetration Tester and Head of Security Services at Kiandra IT. Dan has more than 24 years’ experience in I.T, in a range of different industries, and was one of the first 10 people in the world to become a Certified Ethical Hacker.

Brian Freeman – Closing plenary

Brian Freeman is arguably Australia’s greatest ever adventurer and, certainly, one of a handful of the world’s current outstanding adventurers.

He presents an incredibly empowering and emotional story of a four-year journey carrying the legacy of the 41 Australian Soldiers killed in the war in Afghanistan. Adverse situations encountered during extreme adventure pursuits provide countless entertaining, breath-taking and memorable illustrations of how to turn theory into effective leadership actions.
