Melbourne Cup winner to headline 2016 NIBA Convention

Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Michelle Payne will headline the speakers’ line-up for the 2016 NIBA Convention, delivering the opening keynote presentation on Sunday 11 September.

Payne literally raced into Australian folklore in 2015, becoming the first ever female winner of the Melbourne Cup in its 154-year history. She will be interviewed live on stage about her story by journalist and author Sara James, and she heads a speaker line-up bursting with diversity.

Yassmin Abdel-Magied will appear on Monday 12 September. The Sudanese-Australian Muslim is a social entrepreneur and a mechanical engineer with a passion for football, boxing and motorsport. She embodies the Convention theme of ‘Reinvention’.

Renowned, high-energy economist Bernard Salt will discuss the best ways for brokers to focus their endeavours to grow their businesses sustainably over the coming years, and seven-time surfing world champion Layne Beachley will also take to the stage on Tuesday 13 September.

A range of industry speakers will also contribute their expertise to a wide range of subjects of relevance to brokers of different ages and levels of experience.

NIBA CEO Dallas Booth said: “A great deal of energy goes into coming up with a program for the 2016 NIBA Convention which is a little bit different to the type of program brokers might encounter at other insurance conferences.

“We’re very excited by this year’s speakers’ line-up, which features some of the most diverse and inspiring figures we’ve ever had at the NIBA Convention. There really is something for everyone on the program.”

The 2016 NIBA Convention takes place in Melbourne from 11-13 September. Registration will open this week and early bird rates are available until Monday 11 July. For full details on the event visit www.nibaconvention.com.au
