In response to the Australian workforce becoming more and more globally mobile, nib has launched a new Expatriate Health Insurance cover.
“Many people assume that travel insurance is all they will need when they go overseas not realising that it is really only designed for short term trips and generally for medical emergencies,” said David Kan, nib group executive international and new business.
“For overseas stays longer than 12 months international health insurance such as nib Expatriate Health Insurance provides additional peace of mind that not only medical emergencies are covered but also non-emergency services including GP visits, dental and physio.”
The new cover, developed with AXA PPP International, complements nib’s other health insurance products, including those of international students, and short-term travel insurance.
Kan says the addition of this expat product means nib can be a holistic solution for companies with an international workforce, as it can provide cover for workers in Australia, both permanent and temporary, and for those working overseas.
About a year ago, Beazley too launched an expat product, providing 24/7 emergency assistance, personal liability cover, evacuation in case of natural disaster or political unrest, and personal wellbeing.
