Mark Baxter has been revealed as the new Chief Risk Officer for QBE Australia and New Zealand.
QBE Executive Officer Pat Regan said Baxter’s experience will strengthen the company’s risk management practices and reinforce sound risk management culture. “I am delighted to welcome Mark to QBE. A skilled senior executive with global experience across insurance, banking, asset management and superannuation, Mark joins us at a time of heightened scrutiny for our industry.”
Baxter has recently returned from the UK, where he had been Chief Risk Officer with Prudential Assurance and an Executive Committee Member. Prior to this, he had responsibility for the global financial risk and actuarial function across UK, South African and North America with Old Mutual Group. In Australia, he held top risk and compliance roles at Commonwealth Wealth Bank, was GM at APRA for several years and was also at Mercer.
He says he looks forward to working with the team to enhance the alignment of risk reporting and business strategy to ensure QBE is meeting the standards the community expects of it.
Baxter replaces Anna Gould who is taking on the new position of Head of Claims Technical and Governance for the company.
