New CEO brings Asian experience

Zurich’s new acting General Insurance CEO brings a wealth of Asian market experience, stepping into the role after Daniel Fogarty’s departure was announced last week.

Rajbir Nanra has taken on role in an interim capacity from today, stepping up from his previous Australia and New Zealand Chief Financial Officer role, while Zurich searches for a permanent replacement.

Nanra, who has been with Zurich since 2013, and has worked in China, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. Prior to joining Zurich, he worked with ACE.

In a statement regarding Fogarty’s departure, Zurich said he would take a well-earned break before pursuing other endeavours.

“Daniel is passionate about employee development and engagement, and has been a strong advocate for Zurich’s community work, increasing diversity and retaining and attracting talent to our industry,” the statement says.

“Zurich wishes to thank Daniel for his dedication and contributions and wishes him all the best for his future.”

Fogarty ascended to his position in 2012, and oversaw Zurich’s rise to be named NIBA General Insurer of the Year twice, in 2013 and 2014.

A number of other senior management figures have also left Zurich since mid-last year, including Bobby Lehane, Nick Cook and Anthony Pagano.
