NIBA Convention Program Update

NIBA wishes Michelle Payne good luck as she makes her comeback to race riding on Sunday after suffering a serious injury in a race fall on May 23.

The talented jockey and the first ever female winner to win the Melbourne Cup was meant to open the 2016 NIBA Convention with an interview with Emmy award-winning correspondent Sara James.
She will now be part of the convention closing address as seven-time surfing world champion Layne Beachley has graciously agreed to address the delegates at the welcome plenary.

NIBA CEO Dallas Booth said he was looking forward to both the sessions.

“We are thrilled for Michelle and very thankful to Layne who has been a great sport in agreeing to this last minute swap. They embody some of the best qualities a sports person can have and we are delighted we are able to hear them speak at the convention.”
