NIBA names finalists for NSW Broker of the Year Award

The National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) has revealed the NSW Broker of the Year regional finalists – John G Duncan from JMD Ross Insurance Brokers, David Michell from The Protectors Insurance Brokers Pty Ltd and Kirsty Teer from Aon.

The Broker of the Year Award, sponsored by QBE, goes to an individual broker who is deemed an inspirational role model for the broking community.

QBE Regional Manager for NSW, Christine Bell said, “Congratulations John, David and Kirsty on being named regional finalists. The calibre of entries demonstrate the continual development of our broker partners and we’re delighted to work with them to deliver great outcomes to customers.”

NIBA CEO Dallas Booth congratulated the three NSW finalists, adding: “We are delighted to recognise John, David and Kirsty who have all demonstrated excellence in broking practice.”

All three finalists said they were tremendously honoured. Duncan said he never expected to be nominated for Broker of the year: ” My clients have priority in many aspects of my life and I feel privileged that my fellow peers recognised my contribution with this nomination.”

Michell who is also a NIBA mentor said, “The nomination and progression to being a finalist is a recognition of my 35 years contributing to this fantastic and worthy industry, as well as acknowledging my involvement with helping the next generation of our leaders.”

Teer believes that moments like this make her journey more worthwhile, “We are in a tough industry that is ever changing as well as challenging and to be able to be part of this process, have your clients, colleagues, peers, and friends say such great things about you, is very humbling.”

The NSW regional winners will be announced at the NIBA NSW Gala Lunch on July 13 at the Hyatt Regency, Sydney.

The regional winner will go on to compete for the Stephen Ball Memorial Award for Insurance Broker of the Year, which will be announced at the 2018 NIBA Convention in Hobart, Tasmania – visit nibaconvention.com.au for more information.
