NIBA President and Members win big at the 2018 Australian Insurance Industry Awards

NIBA President, Tim Wedlock of Austbrokers AEI Transport Pty Ltd was announced Insurance Leader of the Year at the 2018 Australian Insurance Industry Awards held last night.

Among the individual categories, NIBA Member, Fiona Fong of Marsh Pty Ltd was announced Young Insurance Professional of the Year at the awards sponsored by the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) and the Asia Insurance Review (AIR).

The broking and general insurance categories saw more NIBA members take home awards, including Simplex Insurance Brokers; who took home Small Broking Company of the Year; Marsh, for Large Broking Company of the Year, GSA Insurance Brokers, for Medium Broking Company of the Year and Insurance Advisernet Australia for Authorised Representative of the Year.

Wedlock congratulated all the winners, acknowledging the role insurance and brokers play in the community at large. He thanked NIBA CEO, Dallas Booth, the NIBA Board and the industry CEOs from Marsh, Willis Towers Watson, Gallaghers and Aon, who he believes help brokers do what they do.

He said, “I am proud of this industry, the people in it and above all I am proud to be an insurance professional.” Marking their 15th year, the Awards were held at Luna Park in Sydney, and hosted by Australian stand-up comedian and writer Claire Hooper, the awards recognise the great achievements of insurance companies and insurance professionals.

‘These Awards highlight the commitment and passion amongst the industry and its people in striving for excellence. With a breadth of the industry represented amongst this year’s winners, we are afforded the opportunity to uncover the various projects, programs and innovations that are shaping and are focused on the betterment of our industry,’ said ANZIIF CEO, Prue Willsford.

‘Year on year we continue to be impressed with the breadth of the industry pushing the barriers to create new innovations, products or customer experiences. The winners of this year’s awards highlight what is possible and the standards we are striving to achieve,’ said Asia Insurance Review Editor-in-Chief, Sivam Subramanian.
