NIBA reveals more finalists for its industry awards

The National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) has revealed further regional finalists for Broker of the Year and Young Professional Broker of the Year.

The Broker of the Year Award, sponsored by QBE, goes to an individual broker who is deemed an inspirational role model for the broking community.

This year, there are two regional finalists for the South Australia/Northern Territory Broker of the Year Award – Angelo Stathopoulos from Guardian Insurance Group and Joanne Tutton from Gallagher.

QBE Regional Manager for Western Australia, the Northern Territory and South Australia Peter McLachlan said the insurer was proud to work with NIBA to recognise and celebrate the commitment and professionalism of intermediaries in the industry through the Stephen Ball Memorial Award.

“This year’s entries are of an incredibly high calibre. Congratulations to all regional finalists across Australia and particularly those in Western Australia, the Northern Territory and South Australia. QBE supports the development of our broker partners as we work together to deliver great customer outcomes.”

The South Australia/ Northern Territory regional winners will be announced at the NIBA SA Gala Lunch on July 20 at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

The Young Professional Broker of the Year Award, sponsored by Vero, recognises the broking industry’s rising stars under the age of 35.

This year in Queensland, three Young Professional Broker of the Year regional finalists were named – Steven Purser from PSC Insurance Group, Emma Busby from Gallagher and Mitchell Young from TIC Insurance Brokers.

Peter Roberts, State Manager Queensland, Vero said: “Vero is delighted to provide ongoing support to the next generation of broking leaders across the country.”
NIBA CEO Dallas Booth congratulated the finalists in both states, adding: “We are delighted to recognise Angelo, Joanne, Steven, Emma and Mitchell who have all demonstrated excellence in broking practice.”

The Queensland regional winners will be announced at the NIBA QLD Gala Lunch on July 18 at the Royal International Convention Centre in Brisbane.

The regional winners will go on to compete for the QBE-sponsored Stephen Ball Memorial Award for Insurance Broker of the Year and the Vero-sponsored Warren Tickle Memorial Award for Young Professional Broker of the Year, which will be awarded at the 2018 NIBA Convention in Hobart, Tasmania.
