The 2020 NIBA Virtual Convention will continue the recent tradition of featuring a session called, ‘Meet the Regulators’, with the Chief Executive and Chief Ombudsman at AFCA, David Locke, the Chairman of the Insurance Brokers Code Compliance Committee, Michael Gill and ASIC Chair, Karen Chester.
This online event will be held from Monday, 26 October to Friday, 30 October, providing plenty of opportunity for brokers to learn from and interact with one another. This is the one conference where intermediaries from all areas come together, regardless of cluster group allegiances, brokerage size and reach, and age of delegates, to gain the tools they need to thrive.
Chester will be able to outline the key challenges ASIC is facing in 2020 and beyond as well as how ASIC will implement and administer the new regulatory tools now available to it. Brokers will hear from Locke on the recent AFCA experience with insurance intermediaries and the current focus at the ombudsman.
The operation of financial sector codes of practice has been a hot topic for discussion, NIBA’s review of the insurance broker Code is ongoing and Gill’s comments on these matters at the will be interesting to say the least.
It has never been more important for brokers to understand regulatory developments and find the best way to respond to this changing landscape.
Apart from AFCA, ASIC and the IBCCC, over the course of the two days, delegates will have the opportunity to hear from among a diverse group of tremendously talented speakers, who will share their knowledge and expertise across the important topics of the day.
