Shake-up for major insurer

There has been a series of major changes to senior level personnel within the ranks of one of Australia’s insurers.

QBE has announced the appointment of Tim Plant to CEO of QBE’s Australian and New Zealand operations.

Plant will be replacing Colin Fagen, who will move into a new Group Chief Strategy Officer position.

Group CEO John Neal says that appointing Plant to the position was a logical decision due to his contribution to the company.

“Promoting Tim into the role of CEO for Australian and New Zealand Operations was a logical decision given his strong contribution to QBE and his leadership of our Corporate Partners and Direct business,” Neal says.

“As an alumni of our Executive Leadership Program, we have had the opportunity to prepare Tim for a role of this significance and importance to QBE.”

In other transitions from QBE, former Chubb Australia MD Mark Lingafelter is to become MD Asia Pacific.

The new role will be a Singapore-based position, with Lingafelter working under QBE CEO Emerging Markets David Fried.

Further to this, QBE’s Chief Underwriting Officer Asia Shaun Standfield has resigned his position and will be moving onto become MD of Insurance Advisernet (IA).

Standfield is due to start his new position at IA this coming October.
