Suncorp Group has announced that Sarah Harland will join its executive team as Chief Information Officer on 1 September 2016.
Harland joins from Medibank Private where she held the role of Executive General Manager, Technology and Operations. Previous roles include General Manager Group Technology for ANZBank and CIO roles at the National Health Service in the UK and QWEST Communications in the USA.
In her new role at Suncorp, Harland will lead the Group’s technology and business intelligence strategy, with responsibility for all technology, digital enablement, cloud and infrastructure, protective services, Chief Data Office, projects and programs and innovation labs function.
In announcing the appointment, Suncorp Group CEO and Managing Director Michael Cameron said: “Sarah Harland is an outstanding and experienced candidate and I am confident her leadership and track record over the past 16 years in similar roles will build on the momentum we already have and take Suncorp’s digital capability to the next level.”
Suncorp hit the headlines in late April after announcing a US$5m equity stake in US-based tech developer Trov. Their Trov Protection app, which aims to make insurance more visible and accessible to millennials, was launched on 30 May.
