The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) has appointed a Suncorp executive to their Board of Directors with immediate effect.
Suncorp’s CEO of Commercial Insurance Anthony Day was appointed to the Board at a meeting in SydnAll Postsey last week.
ICA President Andy Cornish, who warmly welcomes the appointment, says that Day will bring three decades of experience in the general insurance industry to the ICA.
“His fellow Directors look forward to benefitting from his insights and expertise as we seek to chart a path ahead for the sector,” Cornish says.
“With insurers facing growing challenges from such issues as extreme weather events, disclosure and affordability, Mr Day will bring valuable perspectives to Board discussions and deliberations.”
Day’s appointment brings the number of ICA Board members to 10.
NIBA CEO Dallas Booth says that NIBA is very pleased with the appointment, as it brings a greater representation of the intermediated insurance industry to the ICA Board.
“NIBA is pleased with ICA’s the decision to appoint Anthony to the Board,” Booth says.
“We look forward to continuing to work with the ICA to ensure that Australian brokers are represented fairly.”
