Transitions: December 2014


The last big moves of the year have been revealed. Find out below who made the significant switch and who has been promoted in 2014. 


ACE Group Australia has appointed Austin Colotti as National Financial Lines SME Manager, responsible for the growth of the SME business comprising Management Liability and Professional indemnity Schemes.

Replacing Colotti as Queensland Financial Lines Underwriting Manager is Preston Ipkendanz, who relocates from South Australia where he was a Senior Underwriter for the company’s financial lines portfolio.

The vacant SA role has been filled by Stuart Quigley, who joins ACE with 10 years of experience as a broker with Aon and Jardine Lloyd Thompson.


Jeremy Scott-Mackenzie has been elected the new National President of the Australian Professional Indemnity Group (APIG), following the retirement of Andrew Strain. The outgoing president served for three years, having been a member of the group since its foundation in 1995.

Scott-Mackenzie has served on the APIG National Committee and Education Sub-Committee for the last three years and currently works as AIG’s Australasia Commercial Institutions Manager.

New National Committee members Jaydon Bourke-Douglas andKatherine Allsop have also been welcomed.

Nautilus Marine Insurance

Peter Latemore has been named Industry Lines Claims Manager at boating insurance company Nautilus Marine Insurance.

Latemore will be supporting claims in the lines sector, which includes property and liability cover for retailers, repairers, marina operators and yacht clubs. He has more than 25 years of industry experience including high-level roles developing marine sector offerings.


The Risk Management Institution of Australasia (RMIA) has appointedSuzanne Cureton as General Manager, replacing former CEO Geoff Crittenden. Over the last five months she has revitalised the professional development for RMIA’s members and played a key role in mapping out its strategic plan.


The Underwriting Agencies Council (UAC) has farewelled former chairman Roy Ellis who passed away at the age of 68 following a long battle with cancer.

Ellis was one of of the council’s founding members, and has been described as a visionary with a great passion for the underwriting agency sector. He was a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, an ANZIIF Senior Associate, a member of the Australian Insurance Law Association and a Certified Insurance Professional.


Sean Walker has been appointed General Insurance Chief Underwriting Officer at Zurich Australian Insurance.

The internal appointment recognises his varied roles with the company, the most recent being Head of Underwriting and Deal Management for Global Corporate.
