Keep up to date with some of the major transitions within the insurance industry this month.


ACE have announced the promotion of two new Property Underwriting Managers in February.

Kristy Humphries has been appointed Property Underwriting Manager for Victoria & Tasmania, while Adrian Habils will replace Humphries as Queensland Property Underwriting Manager.

ACE Country President John French says the internal appointments highlight the strength of the firm’s talent pool.

“They are both highly-capable insurance professionals who possess the business acumen, underwriting expertise and leadership experience required to excel in their new roles.”


An Austbrokers subsidiary in New Zealand has announced the appointment of a new Non-Executive Director.

Andrew Aitken will take up the new role at NZ Brokers Holdings, much to the pleasure of NZ Brokers Holdings Chairman Mark Searles.

“I am delighted to have Andrew join the Board of NZ Brokers Holdings,” he says.

“Andrew’s reputation and extensive experience in the NZ insurance market, together with his risk and governance background will prove invaluable.

“On behalf of my co-directors we look forward to working with him to further grow NZ Brokers Holdings.”

Club Marine

Pleasure craft insurance specialist Club Marine has appointed Nora Watkins as Chief Operating Officer.

Watkins previously worked at Club Marine’s parent company, Allianz, as Business Improvement Senior Manager.

Club Marine CEO Simon McLean says Watkins’ broad range of skills is welcomed at her new team.

“Nora’s unique skill set adds significant value to our business and we welcome her to Club Marine with open arms,” he says.

“Having implemented a range of improvements across our key functional areas while working with Allianz, Nora has already contributed greatly to Club Marine’s ongoing efforts to improve our customer service and claims process.”


Suncorp’s high-profile Commercial Insurance Distribution Executive General Manager Andrew Mair has moved to a new role in the company, taking on the EGM role in Life Distribution, amid a reshuffle.

Current Personal Insurance Distribution EGM Andrew Mulvogue has been appointed as Mair’s successor, while Mulvogue himself will be replaced by Resilium Managing Director Gerard McDermott.

While a replacement for McDermott is found, Commercial Insurance Strategy and Communications Head Simon Ascroft will take on the former’s role in an acting capacity.

The appointments take effect on 9 March.


TurksLegal have appointed Liam Williams, as Partner in the Commercial Disputes & Transactions team.

Williams has international experience in banking and a wide range of commercial dealings across different fields.

“I’ve long admired the culture of TurksLegal and the opportunities for personal growth within the firm were very attractive to me,” he says.
