Take a look at the first big movements within the industry for 2016.

ACE Group

ACE Group has announced the appointment of two management roles within the new Chubb operation in Australia, which will take effect after the completion of the acquisition of Chubb.

John French has been appointed to the position of Country President for Australia and New Zealand, and Scott Simpson has been appointed to the position of Head of Northern Region, covering New South Wales and Queensland.

As perviously announced, Matthew Doquile will take the position of Chief Operating Officer & Head of Souther Region, covering Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.

“I’m looking forward to working with this talented and respected group of insurance professionals,” French says.

“As we integrate ACE and Chubb in 2016, we will be able to offer increased capacity and a more diverse range of products. With these leadership appointments in place, we will deliver continuity, expanded offerings to the market and excellence in claims.”

Ansvar Insurance

Ansvar Insurance has announced the appointment of two newly-created positions. John Leavey has been appointed to Northern Strategic Partners National Manager, and Hannah Sparkes has been appointed to Business Development Underwriter for South Australia and Northern Territory.

Darren Fennessy has also been assigned the position of Casualty Portfolio Manager, and Rani Edwards will join as Business Development Underwriting Manager for New South Wales.

Leavey, who joins Ansvar from Whitebread Insurance Brokers, says: “I am excited to join Ansvar and bring my partnership experience to help grow existing broker relationships as well as build new partnerships at both the strategic and operational level.”

Sparkes, who will transition from her role as Senior Marine Underwriter for Chubb, will focus on strengthening Ansvar’s relationships in the South Australian and Northern Territory markets.

“South Australia and the Northern Territory provide great opportunities for Ansvar, I am thrilled to be in a position to develop new and build on existing customer relationships by providing innovative underwriting solutions in these markets,” Sparkes says.

Ansvar Insurance General Manager Business Development Ian Ireland says that the new roles have been developed in order to respond to growth opportunities.

“We have created these positions in recognition of the growth opportunities for Ansvar in these markets,” Ireland says.

“John and Hannah bring a wealth of experience to our teams which will provide a huge benefit for Ansvar clients.”

Nova Underwriting

Previous Brooklyn Underwriting Manager Rob Collyer has transitioned into the position of Underwriting Development Manager at Nova Underwriting.

Collyer will be responsible for establishing new relationships, underwriting existing specialist lines and developing new products, including Cyber Liability.

Regarding the move and change in position, Collyer says: “The band is getting back together. I worked with Malcolm and Stuart 20 years ago and the opportunity to join them at Nova Underwriting was too good to pass up.”

“Nova has built a strong brand in the Financial Lines space and I am excited to be involved in further shaping that brand,” Collyer adds.

Zurich

Zurich has announced the appointment of Rajbir Singh Nanra to the position of General Insurance Chief Executive Officer for Australia and New Zealand, reporting to General Insurance CEO for Asia Pacific Stuart A. Spencer.

Nanra brings more than 25 years’ of experience in the Asia Pacific insurance and finance sector to the role, and was previously the General Insurance Chief Financial Officer for Australia dn New Zealand.

Spencer says that he is confident that Nanra will continue to advance Zurich within Australia and New Zealand.

“I am confident that Raj’s experience, enthusiasm and leadership will continue to advance our business in Australia and New Zealand, one of Zurich’s most vital and strategic markets in Asia Pacific,” Spencer says.

“His appointment is also another clear example of the outstanding pool of talent Zurich has within its succession pipeline.”
