These industry names are kicking off 2015 with new beginnings.

IAG

Insurance Australia Group has appointed Tom Pockett to its board as a non-executive director, effective 1 January 2015. He is a non-executive director of Stockland Corp, director of Sunnyfield Independence Association and O’Connell St Associates. He has previously held senior roles with companies such as Woolworths, Commonwealth Bank, Lend Lease and Deloitte. Pockett replaces non-executive director Peter Bush.

LIU

Liberty International Underwriters Asia Pacific Executive Vice President Noel MacCarthy has relocated to Singapore. While his role will not change, the company expects the relocation to contribute to its presence in the Asia market, as well as product line co-ordination and development.

Lloyd’s

The CEO of a leading Australian brokerage has been appointed to head the Australian presence of Lloyd’s.

On Tuesday, the specialist insurance market announced Gow-Gates Insurance Brokers CEO Christopher Mackinnon as its new General Representative in Australia.

Mackinnon will start the role in early February and brings with him more than 21 years of experience in the insurance industry, including stints in both Sydney and London.

Macquarie Pacific Funding

Rachael Lavars has been appointed CEO of Macquarie Pacific Funding following the departure of Stuart White. She was previously head of the insurance broking segment for Macquarie Business Banking, and has previous experience as head of Macquarie Premium Funding.

Marsh

John Clayton has stepped down as Marsh’s Australian CEO to become Chairman of the Pacific Region. Scott Leney has succeeded him as CEO. Clayton will be responsible for business in New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea and work closely with Leney to shape strategy in Australia.

TAL

Life insurance company TAL has appointed Mary Maini as General Manager, Claims. The role entails overseas claims management across all distribution channels. Maini has previously led a variety of business areas in IAG for 20 years, including product, pricing, underwriting and indirect sales.

UAC

The Underwriting Agencies Council has re-elected Chairman Heath Amber of Millennium and Treasurer Linda King of Sterling to its board. Newly elected directors include Sportscover’s David Lamb and Emily Walker from Axis. Lamb and Walker replace retiring directors Jo Lindsay-Eschbank of SUA and Steve Boucher of Sportscover.
