A direct travel insurer has drawn heavy criticism for a promotion aimed at boosting its standing on an product review website.
A report found Cover-More has risked breaching the Competition and Consumer Act by offering $1000 prizes to customers who posted positive reviews on productreview.com.au, a leading customer feedback site.
The promotion led to hundreds of five-star reviews and positive testimonials for the travel insurer, helping it achieve a very high quality rating on the site.
Last year Cover-More won the inaugural LMI Excellence in Claims Service Award for Private Travel.
