The insurance industry has reacted with shock to the sudden demise of Donna Walker, Allianz Australia’s Chief Technical Officer, who passed while on a holiday in Africa with her husband.
NIBA CEO, Dallas Booth said, “I have known Donna for a number of years, and I am deeply saddened at the loss of such a wonderful and highly respected insurance professional.
“I have nothing but the utmost respect for the work Donna has done both at the IAG Group and more recently at Allianz. And her approach to her work was always totally professional as well as being friendly and approachable at all times. This is a very sad loss for the insurance industry in Australia. On behalf of NIBA, our sincere condolences go to Donna’s family, friends and industry colleagues.”
Managing Director for Allianz, Richard Feledy said. “We are deeply saddened by the loss, Donna was a much loved and respected member of the Allianz family. In addition to being an integral part of Allianz’s Senior Management Team, overseeing a number of important business projects, she was also an inspiring leader to her division. Donna was passionate about celebrating the role that women and young people play in the Australian insurance industry, as well as promoting the importance of flexibility and diversity and inclusion, in the workplace.
“In her role on the Board of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance, Donna actively engaged with emerging leaders in the industry and shared the wisdom from her wealth of experience. Donna will be profoundly missed by her family at Allianz. Our deepest condolences go to Donna’s family and friends.”
