The insurance broking community in the Northern Territory is in mourning over the loss of Stewart Cox following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Cox was named ‘Senior Broker of the Year’ at the 2017 Northern Territory Insurance Award and was recognised with the Order of Australia for his services to hockey, horse racing, golf and sport of the Northern Territory.
He was the founded ZIB Insurance Brokers in 1991 and OAMPS acquired the business before selling it to Arthur J Gallagher. Cox had recently completed 25 years with Gallaghers and was their Area Director, Northern Territory at Gallagher, leading a team of specialist risk advisors to provide solutions for the regional business community. .
Sarah Lyons, Chief Executive (Australian Broking) at Gallagher, said: “Stewart was one of the most remarkable leaders I have ever met. Aside from being a strong advocate of Gallagher, Stewart built an enviable reputation in the Northern Territory for his unswerving commitment to the local business community and doing the right thing by clients.”

Cox was a veteran professional with 40 years in the industry, 13-plus running his own company. As a highly knowledgeable broker he was known for always being willing to tackle the hard stuff, and also acted as a mentor to those wanting to share the benefits of his comprehensive experience.
